Cooperation with experts from Germany on scientific research
20 tháng 10, 2024On October 7, 2024, the Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF) worked with a delegation of German experts on a proposal relating to sustainable forest management and people's livelihood development.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Dieter Steinbach - Chairman of AT-Verband, professors and experts from the University of Tübingen and the University of Rottenburg, Germany; Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Da Nang University of Architecture and Green Viet center and the Da Nang Institute for Socio-Economic Development.
On behalf of VNUF, there was the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phung Van Khoa - Vice President; leaders of the International Cooperation Division, leaders and experts from the Faculty of Forestry; Faculty of Forest Resources and Environmental Management; College of Land Management and Rural Development; College of Wood Industry and Interior Design; Faculty of Mechanics and Civil Engineering.
The meeting focused on discussing the research proposal "Designing a feasible and ecologically, socially and economically resilient forest management solution through the sustainable use and development of wood and non-wood products such as native fruits and community-based tourism to enhance ecosystems and biodiversity" (called the Design4est project). Delegates focused on discussing how to implement the project and the possibility of replicating the model to other localities in Vietnam. VNUF also contributed many professional opinions, focusing on practical methods and solutions to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of the project, contributing to sustainable forest management and developing people's livelihoods and conserving biodiversity.
Also at the meeting, Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Sam gave an overview of VNUF, especially emphasizing the results of cooperation with German partners and proposing some cooperation in the coming time. Prof. Volker Hochschild and Prof. Oliver gave an overview of the University of Tübingen and the University of Rottenburg as well as potential cooperation with VNUF. The meeting ended successfully. The two sides agreed to sign a cooperation agreement to implement the project as well as new cooperation in the coming time.
