On the VNUF side, participants included Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien – President; Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Sam – Director of the International Cooperation Division; along with leaders of various units: Faculty of Forestl Resources and Environment Management, Faculty of Forestry, and the Center for Varieties and Hi-Tech Forestry. The delegation from the Guangxi Forestry Research Institute was led by Prof. Li GuiQing, and included experts in forest tree breeding, non-timber forest products, applications of AI in forestry production, and representatives of forestry-related enterprises.

During the meeting, the two sides shared notable results achieved in recent times and discussed directions and plans for upcoming activities to implement the signed Memorandum of Understanding. This MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Chen Gang – Secretary of the Guangxi Provincial Party Committee – and Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam – in February 2025 in Hanoi.

The two parties discussed developing joint research programs on essential oil-bearing plant species and the application of artificial intelligence in forestry; propagation techniques, planting, harvesting, pest control, and timber preservation; as well as staff exchange programs and high-quality human resource training for VNUF.

Prof. Pham Van Dien affirmed that VNUF will create the most favorable conditions for the implementation of cooperation activities between the two sides. On behalf of the delegation, Prof. Li GuiQing expressed gratitude to the President and proposed sending staff to study and conduct research at VNUF, acting as focal points to coordinate with VNUF scientists in developing joint programs and projects in areas of shared strength.
