Working with Chungnam National University, Korea

On the afternoon of January 29, 2024,  the delegation from Chungnam National University (CNU), Korea led by Prof. Dr. Park Byung Bae visited and worked at Vietnam National University of Forestry (VNUF).

On the side of VNUF, were: Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien, President; Prof.  Dr. Hoang Van Sam, Director of International Cooperation Division and deans of the Faculty of Forest Resources and Environmental Management, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Faculty of Mechanics and Civil Engineering.

At the meeting, Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dien, President of VNUF, welcomed the delegation from Chungnam National University to visit and work, and also expressed his hope that there will be more bilateral cooperation between the two universities in teaching, scientific research as well as coordinate the implementation of international projects. On behalf of Chungnam National University, Prof. Dr. Park Byung Bae also appreciated the ideas and proposals in the research activities and believed in the good relationship between the two universities in recent times. Thereby, CNU will be ready to support and accompany VNUF in proposing and participating in a number of research projects such as the Bamboo project, Vietnam Korea Forestry Innovation Center; Establishment of affiliated laboratories. Prof.Dr. Park Byung Bae also suggested the two sides to soon test online teaching programs in related majors to attract learners and create diversity in the learning and research environment for students of both universities.

At the meeting, the two sides had in-depth discussions on a number of areas of forest resource management and ecotourism; forestry policy economics. Both sides also want to promote lecturers and students exchange programs. In the near future, Chungnam National University will accept Mr. Nguyen Duy Vuong to study for a doctorate at the university with AFoCO's scholarship.

At the end of the meeting, both sides wanted to further their cooperation in the future on training and project construction, especially when the two universities signed a comprehensive cooperation memorandum in early 2023.
